4 – 5:30pm PDT
Sponsored by: Northeast Los Angeles Alliance for Democracy
With the June 21 United States bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities, the Israel-Iran War has now become a war between Israel/U.S. and Iran. It threatens to engulf the Middle East region and the world in fire and destruction. The only way to stop the war and the nuclear threat from all the states involved is to call for an immediate ceasefire and support and give voice to those who are fighting for democracy and human rights in each country.
A panel of Iranian feminists will speak about how U.S. activists can take a principled stand against the violations of human rights by all the powers involved and defend progressive, life-affirming forces inside Iran, the Middle East region and the U.S.
Speakers:
Elahe Amani, Chair of Women’s Intercultural Network; board member, National Association for Community Mediation, Emerita, California State University; and editor of the women’s section of the monthly journal, Peace Mark, a publication of Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA).
Frieda Afary, Iranian American librarian, translator, author of Socialist Feminism: A New Approach (Pluto Press, 2022) and producer of Iranian Progressives in Translation.
